Job description

Description
The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates with an interest in classical or non-malignant hematology for an open rank, open track faculty position. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.
The Classical Hematology Program at UVA is a dedicated team of physicians with expertise in caring for patients with a vast array of hematologic conditions, including disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis, anemias, platelets disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders, and other rare hematologic diseases. The successful candidate is expected to be a clinically active member of our team, providing care to adult patients in both the outpatient setting at the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center at UVA, as well as attending on the inpatient hematology consult service. The successful candidate will further current scholarly achievements through clinical and/or translational research opportunities. Participation in student, resident and fellow teaching is required and opportunities are abundant. We are located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia, which is consistently ranked as one of the top places to live in the US.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the outpatient clinical care of patients with a variety of non-malignant hematologic diseases; attend on the inpatient hematology consult service on an intermittent basis; and be responsible for the education and evaluation of medical students, medicine residents, hematology/oncology fellows, and advanced practitioners as well as other learners within the Health System.
This position will remain open until filled. This is an Exempt-level, benefited position.
Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree and be board certified/eligible in Hematology. Board certification in Internal Medicine is encouraged. Rank and compensation are contingent upon qualifications and expertise.
Interested individuals should have a strong interest in an academic medicine career as demonstrated by experience with research and/or medical education and strong clinical skills in classical (non-malignant) hematology. An interest in clinical investigation and/or translational collaborations is encouraged
