RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach music theory concepts effectively to students
- Provide one-on-one lessons tailored to a student's skill level and musical interests, focusing on technique, fretboard knowledge, and repertoire building.
- Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, or examinations as needed.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans and curriculum based on student progress and learning styles.
- Maintain accurate attendance and progress records for each student.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in music from accredited college/university; Master's degree is a plus.
- One or more years experience in teaching musical instrument performance for specific instrument or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be a fluent player of the specific musical instrument which will be taught.
- Should be experienced in teaching students with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in a private setting.
- Should have a strong classical background.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years playing as a musician and one (1) or more years as a teacher for the specific instrument.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & CAPABILITIES
- Upbeat, positive attitude with good communication and observational skills.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing using English; bilingual skills are a plus
- Must have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to the primary instrument.
- Effectively manage time and have excellent organizational skills to keep students on task.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents of young students.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical abilities: Ability to sit/stand for periods of time with good hearing and eyesight.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance.
