Job Description

The Visualization Manager leads MHC’s visual communications and immersive technology initiatives within the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) department. This role is responsible for transforming complex building and construction data into compelling, accurate, and engaging visual narratives that support project pursuits, preconstruction planning, and operational execution.

As a strategic leader, the Visualization Manager oversees a team of visualization specialists and directs the production of high‑end renderings, cinematic animations, 4D/5D visuals, and AR/VR experiences across a national portfolio of complex projects. This role bridges technical construction knowledge, advanced visualization workflows, and executive‑level storytelling to elevate how projects are conceived, communicated, and delivered.

Key Responsibilites

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the national visualization strategy for the VDC department.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3D artists, visualization specialists, VDC engineers, and technical animators.
  • Establish scalable workflows, performance standards, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Partner with Preconstruction, Marketing, and Operations leadership to define visualization needs for pursuits, interviews, client presentations, and internal planning.
  • Act as a thought leader for immersive technology and visual innovation within the organization.

Production & Execution

  • Direct the production of photorealistic renderings, cinematic animations, and interactive visual presentations.
  • Ensure visuals accurately communicate construction phasing, sequencing, site logistics, and final built conditions.
  • Oversee BIM‑to‑Visualization workflows, including the translation of Revit and Navisworks models into real‑time and offline visualization platforms.
  • Maintain alignment between visual outputs, construction intent, and project reality.
  • Support proposal deadlines and executive presentations with polished, high‑impact visuals.

Immersive Technology (AR/VR)

  • Champion the deployment of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and mixed‑reality tools.
  • Support virtual mock‑ups, spatial coordination reviews, and client walk‑throughs.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate immersive visuals into planning and decision‑making workflows.

Quality Control & Standards

  • Maintain strict QA/QC standards for all visualization deliverables.
  • Ensure technical accuracy of construction processes depicted while maintaining top‑tier artistic quality.
  • Develop and enforce visualization standards, templates, and asset libraries.
  • Review and approve final deliverables before external or executive release.

Research, Development & Innovation

  • Continuously research, test, and evaluate emerging visualization software, AI tools, and hardware.
  • Lead pilot initiatives for new visualization and immersive technologies.
  • Optimize workflows to reduce production time while increasing output quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to digital twin and reality capture visualization initiatives in collaboration with VDC leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, 3D Animation, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in architectural or construction visualization.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Demonstrated experience working within or alongside a VDC/BIM department on large commercial projects.
