What is a live in Christian nanny?

A Live In Christian Nanny is a childcare provider who resides in the family's home and incorporates Christian values and teachings into their caregiving. This role typically involves caring for children, helping with daily routines, and sometimes performing light household duties. The nanny is often expected to serve as a positive role model by demonstrating Christian principles such as kindness, honesty, and compassion. Families may seek a Live In Christian Nanny to ensure that their children are raised in an environment that supports their faith and values. In addition to childcare, the nanny may participate in religious activities or help with faith-based education.

What are some unique challenges a live in Christian nanny might face, and how can they be addressed?

As a Live In Christian Nanny, one unique challenge is maintaining professional boundaries while residing in your employer's home, which can sometimes blur the lines between work and personal time. Additionally, it is important to respect the family's specific religious values and practices while integrating your own faith appropriately. Open communication, clear expectations regarding work hours and duties, and mutual respect for religious perspectives are key to ensuring a positive, harmonious environment. Regular check-ins with the family can help address any concerns and foster a supportive relationship.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in Christian nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Christian Nanny, you need experience in childcare, a strong understanding of child development, and often a background in early education, with references and sometimes CPR/first aid certification. Familiarity with household management tools, communication apps, and the ability to integrate faith-based values into daily routines are also important. Patience, trustworthiness, excellent communication, and a nurturing demeanor help build strong relationships with both children and parents. These skills and qualities are essential for providing safe, supportive, and values-aligned care in a family's home environment.

Job description

Overview
NATIONWIDE SEARCH: NEW BRAUNFELS, TX - A warm, active family of six living on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels is seeking a full-time Live-In Nanny / House Manager to become a long-term part of their household. Mom is a dentist who owns her own practice, and Dad owns several businesses and works from home regularly. Their four children are ages 14, 11, 8, and 6. The family has two small dogs and a wonderful history of long-term live-in nannies, with their previous three staying four years, just over a year, and nearly two years, respectively. They are hoping to find their next great fit.
Christian faith is important to this family, and they are looking for someone whose values align well with theirs. They love sports, entertaining, spending time together, and eating well. Healthy living and wholesome, nutritious food are a priority in this household, and they would love someone who genuinely enjoys meal planning and cooking for kids.
This is a hybrid role split roughly evenly between childcare and household management. On the childcare side, responsibilities include school drop-off and pick-up, transportation to practices, games, and activities, keeping the children organized, and being a genuine and caring presence in their daily lives. On the household side, responsibilities include grocery shopping, family and children's laundry, meal preparation and occasional family dinners, and keeping the home organized and running smoothly day to day. A professional cleaning team comes weekly, so this role is about management and flow rather than deep cleaning.
The ideal candidate is kind, patient, highly organized, dependable, and self-motivated. They are looking for someone committed to a long-term placement who truly wants to become part of the family. Fluent Spanish is a significant plus as two of the youngest children are enrolled in a Spanish Emergent school program. A background as an athlete is also a bonus given how much of this family's life revolves around practices, games, and sporting events.
The position is approximately 30 to 40 hours per week with a flexible weekday schedule and most weekends off. Compensation is $25-30 gross per hour, based on experience, via payroll. The position includes a private bedroom, private bathroom, room and board, and use of a family vehicle during working hours.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS COLLEGE DEGREE | AA IN RELATED FIELD OF STUDY | OR A MINIMUM OF 5+ YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL NANNY EXPERIENCE
  • UP TO DATE FIRST-AID & CPR CERTIFICATION (WILLINGNESS TO RENEW AS NEEDED)
  • THE ABILITY TO MAKE A ONE-YEAR COMMITMENT UNLESS APPLYING FOR A TEMPORARY POSITION
  • A PASSION FOR WORKING WITH CHILDREN
  • 5+ YEARS OF CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE IN ANY FIELD
  • EXCELLENT WORK AND PERSONAL REFERENCES
  • U.S. DRIVER'S LICENSE (THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO NYC RESIDENTS)
