Job description

SALARY RANGE: $51,184.00-$63,979.50
Full-time relevant work experience will factor into salary offered and credit for vacation time.

At Noble, we believe the health of soil, plants, animals and humans is one and indivisible. We believe in rebuilding healthy soils and helping producers maintain a strong bottom line. Through these two actions, we can transform degraded grazing lands across the United States, benefiting the environment and society as a whole.

Our focus is to help farmers and ranchers apply regenerative ranching principles to the nation’s 654 million grazing lands. This monumental undertaking requires thousands of producers across the U.S. to overcome significant barriers and change their current practices to work with nature, not against it.

Our ranch management team plays a critical role in implementing and managing the regenerative ranching principles and practices on Noble’s 14,000 acres of working ranch lands. This work helps us gather the information necessary for farmers and ranchers to triumph over the barriers and ultimately benefit all of society through their efforts. We live to find new ways to communicate usable information so farmers and ranchers can leave their land better at sunset than at sunrise.

So, do you want to join us? We are looking for a Ranch Manager.

As a ranch manager, you will be responsible for the management and oversight of the assigned ranch, making operational decisions to support ranch and research needs while also managing to improve soil health and overall ranch profitability. This work is key in helping Noble achieve its goal and share the story of regenerative land stewardship with farmers, ranchers, potential donors and society at large.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading others
    • Planning for budgeting and staffing to ensure effective resource management. Model and ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures and workplace safety.
    • Guiding and supporting individual and team performance and development. Defining clear expectations to support and align individual, team and organizational goals.
    • Building trust among team members through effective communication and relationships. Cultivating a culture of productivity and efficiency through intentional practices that foster growth, accountability and execution.
  • Gathering and Reporting ranch data
    • Maintaining and reporting accurate inventories of animals, feed, medicine and forage.
    • Providing reporting for livestock production and individual ranch profitability including current metrics and projections.

Safety Sensitive Responsibilities include:

  • Managing ranch operations
    • Providing daily management oversight for all ranch activities including planning, scheduling and budgeting.
    • Assisting ranch operations at other locations and to other staff as needed.
  • Maintaining and using farm equipment
    • Calibrating, operating and maintaining farm equipment according to proper procedures.
    • Performing preventive maintenance and submitting monthly usage reports on specific equipment.
  • Driving vehicles for work-related tasks
    • Operating Institute and/or personal vehicles in compliance with the Vehicle Use Policy and Fleet Safety Program.
    • Conducting pre-operational vehicle checks to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Managing care of livestock
    • Providing and ensuring proper daily care for livestock, including watering, mineral supplementation, health monitoring and practicing low-stress animal handling. Ensuring adherence to BQA guidelines.
    • Moving livestock as requested in accordance with the Institute guidelines.

We will:

  • Teach you. We will support you with professional development opportunities that will hone your skills in regenerative ranch management, Agile practices, and leadership.
  • Support you. We’re committed to building solutions for each other in addition to our stakeholders. Our team members make time to help, provide solutions, and remove roadblocks with regular collaboration across groups, regardless of where our office is located. We are empowered and equipped with the tools that allow us to connect, to be intentional and to grow together.
  • Include you. We come from different parts of the globe and from different walks of life, but we share the vision of our founder, Lloyd Noble, to improve the land for the benefit of all society. Our culture is inclusive, supportive, and diverse. We want to be a part of your story and you to help write part of ours. Your perspective and experience is invaluable. Come grow with us.
  • Provide you. We offer competitive salary and benefits, including multiple options for health and retirement plans, employee wellness program, employee recognition program, and onsite wellness center. In addition, we have a safe to learn work environment with organizational support for community involvement and volunteering.
