Position Summary

The Lead, Identity & Access Management (IAM) Automation & Strategy, plays a key role in driving automation, process optimization, and Digital Coworker capabilities across the IAM organization. This position partners with engineering teams, cyber security professionals, product owners, and business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, develop scalable solutions, and support IAM modernization initiatives.

The successful candidate will leverage experience with the Tines automation platform and other emerging technologies to develop automation solutions and support Digital Coworker initiatives that streamline identity lifecycle management, access governance, privileged access management, reporting, compliance activities, and operational support processes. This role combines hands-on automation development with strategic planning and process optimization to improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience across the IAM organization.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Digital Coworker Development

  • Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions supporting IAM processes and services.
  • Build and maintain workflows using the Tines automation platform.
  • Support the design and implementation of Digital Coworker capabilities and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Develop integrations between IAM platforms, security tools, ticketing systems, and enterprise applications.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.

Strategy & Process Optimization

  • Support the development and execution of IAM automation and Digital Coworker strategies.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify high-value automation opportunities across IAM operations.
  • Analyze existing workflows and recommend process improvements that reduce manual effort and operational risk.
  • Contribute to automation roadmaps, prioritization efforts, and capability planning.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend opportunities to improve IAM service delivery.

Solution Delivery & Implementation

  • Translate business requirements into scalable automation solutions.
  • Support automation testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization activities.
  • Develop reusable automation frameworks, templates, and best practices.
  • Ensure automation solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Maintain documentation for automation workflows, integrations, and processes.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop metrics and reporting to measure automation effectiveness and value.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Create dashboards and reporting solutions that track automation adoption and outcomes.
  • Measure efficiency gains, quality improvements, and risk reduction resulting from automation initiatives.
  • Present recommendations and findings to business and technology stakeholders.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a subject matter resource for IAM automation and Tines development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to analysts and engineers supporting automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IAM, security, infrastructure, application, and business teams to deliver automation solutions.
  • Participate in project planning, architecture reviews, and solution design discussions.
  • Promote automation best practices and continuous improvement across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Cyber Security, Identity & Access Management, Automation Engineering, Software Development, or related disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience developing and supporting automation workflows using the Tines platform.
  • Experience identifying automation opportunities and implementing solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience with Digital Coworker, AI-enabled automation, or related intelligent automation technologies.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications and security platforms using APIs, web services, and automation frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working across multiple technology teams and business stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Salary Range:

$99,600 - 169,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
