Multimedia Communications Coordinator V

Rothe is seeking a Multimedia Communications Coordinator V to lead multimedia content for Heliophysics, based at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The work will be in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency's enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA's Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA's message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA's communication to the outside world. Functional Responsibilities:
  • Lead day to day development, production, workflow management, and strategic planning for NASA Heliophysics multimedia content
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables across video, animation, social media, and digital platforms.
  • Conceptualize, script, and guide production of video explainers, documentaries, news videos, live broadcast elements, data visualizations, and conceptual animations that clearly communicate Heliophysics science to broad audiences.
  • Plan and execute multimedia and publicity strategies that elevate Heliophysics missions across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
  • Develop and refine story angles, scripts, messaging, and visual approaches for news coverage, live segments, and feature content related to Heliophysics science.
  • Manage, edit, and proof content across multimedia channels to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with NASA communications standards.
  • Serve as a liaison for internal stakeholders, mission teams, and external media, supporting interviews, media requests, and content reviews.
  • Support live and recorded productions. Including explainers, launch coverage, briefings, and social video by coordinating creative assets, preparing hosts or subject matter experts, and maintaining strong editorial quality.
  • Stay current on NASA Heliophysics programs to speak accurately and effectively about mission objectives, science stories, and upcoming milestones.
Education and Experience:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's of Science or Bachelor's of Arts degree in journalism, communications, science communication, broadcast journalism or marketing, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum Experience:
Over 15 years of progressive experience leading science communication, multimedia production, and public affairs efforts for NASA missions or comparable technical organizations. Including developing editorial strategy, producing complex video and digital content, supporting live mission coverage, and translating sophisticated space science into clear, accurate public facing storytelling.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in multimedia production, including project management of complex creative workflows.
  • Proven ability to develop science or technical storytelling products across video, animation, and digital media.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to translate scientific concepts into clear, compelling content for general audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate with scientists, mission teams, and cross-functional production staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 requirements.
  • Excellent editorial judgment, copywriting skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national or U.S. permanent resident.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, OneDrive), SharePoint, and Box.
Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions, the employee bears travel costs to the nearest NASA Center for badging and the issuance of NASA IT equipment. For a Remote or Hybrid position, the employee must have a reliable internet connection and be able to VPN into the NASA network to conduct work.
