Job description

We are seeking a full-time Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to join a behavioral health hospital in Petersburg, Virginia. This role offers strong compensation, flexible employment structure, and a fully staffed support team, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality inpatient psychiatric care while leading a collaborative treatment team.

    Schedule / Hours: Full-time inpatient schedule
    Call: Shared call (weeknights by phone; weekend rounding)
    Patient Volume: Adult and Adolescent inpatient caseload (manageable, team-supported)
    Location: Petersburg, VA (Richmond metro area)
    Practice Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital (Adult, Military or Adolescent Unit)
    Support / Care Team: Psychiatrists, APPs, nursing staff, therapists, case managers

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient psychiatric care to adult and adolescent patients with mental health and substance use disorders
    • Conduct admission evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
    • Lead multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure coordinated care
    • Manage daily patient care, including medication management and progress evaluations
    • Participate in on-call coverage and weekend rounding as scheduled
    • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and clinical support staff
    • Document patient care, treatment plans, and clinical updates

Qualifications
