With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

As an Event Manager in Joby's fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for providing event, logistics, and project management as part of our Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to the Events Lead, this role will manage assigned events from initial planning through onsite execution and final closeout. Through world-class events and experiences, you will play a key role in bringing Joby's technology to communities around the world, creating memorable moments that inform, inspire, and engage potential customers, partners, policymakers, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented, proactive, collaborative across multiple teams, a strong communicator, a team player, and highly organized. The key to success in this role is the ability to adapt to ever-changing conditions and roll up your sleeves to solve problems when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute assigned marketing events including trade shows, live demonstrations, corporate and partner events
  • Coordinate logistics, including shipping, registration, attendee tracking, marketing assets, credentials, signage, catering, transportation, security and AV
  • Procure and manage vendor services, including contract negotiations, vendor onboarding, purchase orders, invoice tracking and final payment 
  • Provide hands-on onsite management for assigned domestic and international events
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure internal and external participants at each event are prepared 
  • Assist the team as necessary with hotel and travel arrangements, including negotiating group hotel rates
  • Assist executive assistants with meeting planning during events as necessary
  • Serve as the day to day point of contact for assigned events, keeping internal teams, vendors and partners informed of deadlines, decisions and responsibilities 
  • Manage schedules, budgets, and event assets for assigned consumer and stakeholder events 
  • Maintain active event information within the global events calendar, trackers and shared planning tools 
  • Work with the wider creative team to deliver world-class activations, concepts and experiences that effectively represent the Joby brand
  • Develop and maintain event timelines, run of shows, staffing plans, contact sheets and planning documents 
  • Conduct site visits and document venue, infrastructure, logistics and guest experience requirements 
  • Track event expenses and support final budget reconciliation and event closeout 
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping, freight, event assets and onsite deliveries 
  • Drive continuous improvement in our events, ensuring the most efficient use of resources and capturing best practices thorough post event Lessons Learned
Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience 
  • Minimum 5+ years of event management experience
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects independently
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to travel globally up to 50% of the time
  • Possession of a current passport and ability to support international travel
  • Strong organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and willingness and ability to work well with others
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, often changing environment with efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership over sometimes ambiguous tasks and situations with little oversight
  • Experience independently managing assigned events from planning through onsite execution and closeout 
  • Strong vendor management experience, budgeting, negotiating and project management skills

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $93,600 - $128,700/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
