Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney
Location: New York, NY or San Francisco, CA

Direct Counsel is seeking a Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney to join a nationally recognized Am Law firm with a premier litigation practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a midlevel associate with at least three years of experience in securities and financial services litigation who is looking to take on meaningful responsibility, work directly with clients, and collaborate with experienced litigators on sophisticated, high-profile matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong litigation foundation, exceptional writing and analytical skills, and experience representing financial institutions, fintech companies, or other clients in complex commercial disputes. This position offers significant courtroom exposure, hands-on responsibility, and a clear path for long-term professional growth.

Responsibilities
  • Manage substantive aspects of complex litigation matters in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and regulatory proceedings.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation filings.
  • Conduct and manage all phases of discovery, including document review, written discovery, and witness preparation.
  • Assist with deposition preparation, hearings, trial strategy, and trial support.
  • Participate in factual investigations, legal research, case strategy, and client counseling.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across litigation and financial services practice groups on sophisticated disputes and enforcement matters.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, and litigation management.
  • Work closely with partners while taking ownership of day-to-day case responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience handling securities litigation, financial services litigation, or related complex commercial litigation matters.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience independently managing litigation assignments and client interactions.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Government agency or regulatory enforcement experience is a plus.
  • Admission to the New York or California Bar, depending on office location.
