Job Description Senior Counsel, Litigation: Premises Liability, Mass Tort - Decatur or Chicago, ILThis is an exempt level position.Position Summary:Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Litigation, the Senior Counsel, Litigation will manage litigation and disputes for the Company, focusing on insured litigation including general liability, premises liability, mass tort, and other personal injury and property damage matters.Job Responsibilities:Oversee a significant litigation docket of active cases.Handle disputes in a proactive manner and anticipate and mitigate risks to achieve the best result for the Company.Select and manage outside counsel efficiently while maximizing value and utilizing innovative models to manage legal spend.Report on litigation risk and reserves as part of Company's financial disclosure process.Partner within Litigation & Regulatory Law team to further litigation best practices and provide lessons-learned training to business teams and internal stakeholders.Job Requirements:Illinois licensed attorney with at least five (5) years' litigation experience.Demonstrated experience handling complex litigation and disputes, with a focus on insured litigation.Familiarity with insurance coverage for claims, including reserving and reporting requirements.Outstanding advocacy, presentation, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes.Work independently with general supervision and direction from the Assistant General Counsel, Litigation in furtherance of Litigation & Regulatory Law team goals and the Company's strategic plan.
