Job Summary:

The Inspection Technology Engineer I supports the implementation, validation, and continuous improvement of automated inspection systems used in cylindrical lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing. This role focuses on ensuring inspection systems operate reliably, detect defects accurately, and support safe, high-volume production for EV battery applications.

The role is hands-on and highly collaborative, working closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Equipment Engineering, and EHS teams in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will gain exposure to vision systems, X-ray inspection, metrology, and automated electrical test systems across electrode, assembly, and formation processes.

Responsibilities:

Support inspection, manufacturing, or automation processes on the production floor.

Assist with setup, validation, and optimization of inspection and production equipment.

Analyze basic process and inspection data to support yield and quality improvements.

Support troubleshooting of equipment and process-related issues under guidance.

Participate in new model introductions and process change activities.

Follow SOPs, work instructions, and engineering standards.

Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and cross-functional teams.

Support documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).

1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (internship or co-op acceptable).

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality concepts.

Fundamental understanding of automated equipment or inspection systems.

Knowledge of machine vision algorithm libraries (Halcon, OpenCV) and deep learning models.

Exposure to maintenance of in-line inspection systems (Machine Vision, 3D metrology, X-ray and CT).

Understanding of measurement system analysis (MSA) and gage R&R using Minitab.

Skills:
