Job description

Literacy Tutor (K-2)

Ravenna School District
30 Hours per Week 9:00am-3:00pm
184-Day School Year beginning with the 2026-2027 School Year

Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Curriculum and Assessment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio teaching license in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or another appropriate teaching field.
  • Experience teaching reading at the elementary level, preferably in grades K-2.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and structured literacy practices.
  • Experience administering and interpreting reading diagnostic and progress monitoring assessments preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, intervention staff, and administrators.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Job Summary

The Literacy Tutor provides supplemental reading intervention to students in kindergarten through second grade to accelerate literacy achievement. The tutor collaborates with teachers and administrators to provide targeted, data-driven instruction, assists with the collection and organization of student assessment data, and supports classroom literacy instruction through collaborative teaching when appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted, evidence-based reading intervention to small groups of students based on identified literacy needs.
  • Plan and deliver intervention lessons aligned with district curriculum and student data.
  • Assist with administering literacy diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring measures.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain student intervention and assessment data.
  • Monitor student growth and communicate progress with classroom teachers and administrators.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify students requiring intervention and adjust instructional support based on student progress.
  • Participate in team teaching or co-teaching opportunities as determined by building needs.
  • Support implementation of district literacy initiatives and intervention programs.
  • Attend required professional development and staff meetings related to literacy instruction and intervention.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all district policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Curriculum and Assessment.

  • Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies
  • Employee is expected to follow all policies and procedures in accordance with the ESC of Northeast Ohio and client district assignments.
