Job description
To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on 08/02/2026.
Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Financial Literacy and Enrollment Services reports to the UNC COM Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services and serves as an operational leader within the College of Osteopathic Medicine, providing strategic oversight for financial aid operations, financial literacy programming, and enrollment services initiatives. This position functions beyond the scope of a traditional campus-based financial aid role and requires specialized expertise in professional student lending, high-debt financial counseling, enrollment strategy, accreditation-sensitive compliance, and individualized student advising within a medical education environment. The Associate Director plays a critical role in supporting recruitment, yield, retention, and student success. The position ensures compliance with institutional, federal, and accreditation requirements. In addition to leading financial literacy and financial aid operations, the position serves as a key operational partner and designated backup to the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services, supporting continuity of enrollment management functions and cross-functional operations across the admissions and enrollment services.
Job Duties:
Financial Aid and Financial Literacy (70%)
ย Serve as a primary point of contact for osteopathic medical students and applicants regarding financial aid, scholarships, budgeting, student loan processes, and debt management.
ย Conduct individualized financial aid counseling sessions for prospective and current medical students related to loan borrowing, repayment strategies, debt management, financial wellness, and exit counseling.
ย Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive financial literacy curriculum for osteopathic medical students, including programming related to budgeting, professional student borrowing, debt management, loan repayment strategies, financial wellness, and transition-to-residency financial planning.
ย Assist with financial aid packaging, document verification, scholarship coordination, and compliance activities in collaboration with the University Office of Financial Aid.
ย Manage and coordinate financial aid appeals and professional judgment reviews for osteopathic medical students in collaboration with UNC's main campus Financial Aid Office, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, institutional policies, and accreditation-related requirements while providing individualized support and guidance to students experiencing financial hardship or extenuating circumstances.
ย Chair the COM Scholarship Committee and support the development, administration, and equitable distribution of scholarship programs in collaboration with college leadership, finance, and advancement teams.
ย Monitor and maintain accurate financial aid, scholarship, and student records while ensuring compliance with institutional, state, federal, FERPA, and accreditation requirements.
ย Analyze student financial aid trends and prepare reports related to scholarship utilization, borrowing patterns, enrollment trends, and student financial wellness initiatives to support strategic decision-making and institutional planning.
Serve as the primary liaison between the College of Osteopathic Medicine, private lenders, and Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) representatives to support student funding processes, military scholarship coordination, financial counseling, and timely dissemination of financial aid information and resources.
ย Assist leadership with development and implementation of policies, procedures, and process improvements related to financial aid and enrollment services.
ย Prepare and deliver presentations for current and prospective students regarding financial aid, enrollment services, student financial wellness, and debt management.
ย Collaborate with university departments and external partners to ensure timely and accurate processing of financial aid and scholarship information.
Enrollment Services (20%)
ย ย ย ย ย ย Support recruitment and admissions initiatives including recruitment fairs, open houses, interview days, campus visit programs, second-look events, and pipeline programming.
ย ย ย ย ย ย Assist with enrollment management activities designed to support recruitment goals, yield strategies, matriculation processes, and retention initiatives.
ย ย ย ย ย ย Assist with development and implementation of enrollment management policies, procedures, annual plans, goals, and operational initiatives that support institutional priorities.
ย ย ย ย ย ย Represent the College of Medicine professionally at internal and external events, recruitment activities, and professional meetings.
ย ย ย ย ย ย Provide administrative and operational support to the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services as assigned.
ย ย ย ย ย ย Support development of admissions, recruitment, and enrollment materials including presentations, handouts, website content, and student communications.
Operational Support and Other Responsibilities (10%)
ย Provide support for major College of Medicine events including White Coat Ceremony, Match Day, Commencement, orientation programs, wellness initiatives, and student engagement activities.
ย Assist with social media, marketing, and outreach initiatives.
ย Participate in institutional and College of Medicine committees related to scholarships, student affairs, curriculum, professionalism, student support, and enrollment management.
ย Support annual assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement activities for enrollment management functions in alignment with accreditation standards and institutional goals.
ย Assist with development and coordination of cross-training initiatives to ensure operational continuity and preservation of institutional knowledge.
ย Provide administrative and operational support to the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services as assigned.
ย May supervise student workers, graduate assistants, temporary staff, or project-based teams.
ย Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services or College leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
