Role Purpose

Under the direction of the General Manager, perform the activities necessary to maintain fuel facilities in compliance with military contractual compliance obligations and standards and Aviation Boatswains Mate Fuel and LFM (liquid fuel maintenance) standards.

  • Previous Aviation Boatswains Mate or Air Force Liquid Fuel Maintenance experience preferred for this job.
  • Must have authorization and supporting documents for work in USA
  • This position requires extensive weekly overnight travel and is based out of the Sabina, OH location. Must have the ability to report to Sabina, OH on a weekly basis.
  • Salary: starting at $80,000.00 + Travel Meals of $51.00/day

What you will be doing 

  • Performs routine maintenance inspections at various U.S. military locations in the continental United States, Honduras and Bahamas by anticipating, planning and acting on different contingency plans in the efficient maintenance of fuel facilities within the military support services area. 
  • Maintains fuel storage tanks to include transfer of fuel as appropriate to secure safe and efficient operations to include inspection reports of the operations for unusual circumstances to include pressure changes, leaks, unauthorized personnel, etc. 
  • Maintain good working relationships with co-workers and military management personnel utilizing good judgment in recognizing scope of authority. Investigate and adjust customer complaints and concerns regarding fuel systems maintenance.
  • Diagnose and correct problems using test equipment, statistical, equipment history, manufactures specifications and industry related standards to avoid fuel spills or fuel facility related events. 
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain Class I, II and III hydrant systems. 
  • Maintains knowledge of Military Standards, UFC, EM-385, OSHA, EPA and other industry standards. 
  • Follow company and departmental safety policies and procedures and react to safety incidents should the need arise. 
  • Maintain records relating to maintenance. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Is able to meet the Station’s attendance standards.

What we are looking for: 

  • Within six (6) months, they become oriented to all areas imperative to the function of the various equipment, i.e., storage tanks, valves, control valves, fuel pits, emergency shut offs, military procedures for maintaining the fuel system equipment, etc.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous Aviation Boatswains Mate or Air Force Liquid Fuel Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, loss/gains, inventories, inches/feet to gallons/barrels conversions, proportions, percentages, areas, weights, lengths, diameters, radius, circumferences, flow rates, pressures, Voltage, amperes, Wats, resistance and volumes in standard and volumes in standard and metric.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standards situations.
  • Maintain maintenance objectives to maximize reliability and minimize costs.
  • Possess/maintain a valid State driver’s license and Common Access Card (CAC)
  • OSHA 30 Certification required within sixty (60) days of hire
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required within sixty (60) days of hire 
  • Must pass pre-employment color vision and a drug test

    The individual must also be able to open and close large value on 16" product delivery pipelines quickly. Opening and closing these values involves twisting and pulling motion and sometimes considerable physical exertion. 

    Other tasks include digging and shoveling, such as snow removal around equipment and office. Employees may also engage in debris removal which involves lifting, bending and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly work in outside-weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, high voltages and high hydraulic/pneumatic pressures. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places.
