Job description


The Blender/Compounder plays a vital role in the production process at IKI. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are committed to quality and eager to contribute to our teamโ€™s success.


Position: Chemical Blender/Compounder

Hours: 2nd Shift 3p-11p Monday-Friday

Pay: starting pay around $25 per hour, 3rd shift premium of $2.00 per hour


Summary: This position is responsible for timely mixing of raw materials and blending chemicals (powder and liquid) to supply to production. This position will work closely with quality control teams and internal supply chain to complete work orders and batching that is set to strict specifications.

The person filling this role needs to possess diligent planning skills along with the ability to communicate effectively. They will be continuously informing both their internal team and interdepartmentally on workflow to support production. This position is well supported by quality personnel to ensure the level of accuracy and consistency is maintained.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety and compliance regulations. This position works with chemicals that require uniforms, gloves, and safety glasses. Respirators are provided and yearly fit tests for half-mask are required. Safety shoes meeting at least composite toe and anti-slip are mandatory
  • Operate blending equipment and make adjustments to ensure quality of the blending process. This includes mixers and tanks to end user specification. This position works with production line personnel to ensure flow and quantity of materials is communicated.
  • Follow work order instructions to weigh and combine raw ingredients in accurate amounts. Following the quality control departmentโ€™s specifications laid out by the end user customer, the blender is provided with a recipeโ€™ to follow and document. This requires basic math skills and the ability to estimate quantities.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the quality department to ensure the blend and cleaning samples used are tested and recorded within the specified timeframe to ensure smooth transition of the workflow.
  • Thorough, diligent, and consistent written documentation is a key factor in success of this position. Working with individual batch information for each ingredient used, time, humidity and temperature measurement, and maintaining timely workflows. Penmanship consistency is necessary to be accurately read by all parties
  • Time management and multi-tasking are needed to balance a diverse workflow. Throughout the day, the production line and management would request checks on materials. The candidate would need to be able to keep track of their workflow to communicate the answer to the teamโ€™s requests.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with production, maintenance, quality control and scheduling personnel. Though this position works independently on individual orders and in different areas, as a team they rely on others in the department to assist with, and support others during downtime or gathering of materials.
  • Supporting the logistics department by weighing and properly labeling and storing chemical inventory. Organization and use of forklift to procure materials that need to remain uniformly identifiable. This includes following proper procedures for unloading bulk deliveries of chemicals via tanker trucks.
  • Minimal potential of customer interaction, as our customers may come for a site visit. Requirement to keep appearance, attitude and hygiene well-kept and professional on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand technical information in English and imperial measurements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Chemical operator/handling experience preferred
  • Data entry/Inventory experience
  • Blending/Batch/Recipe manufacturing experience preferred
  • Quality control experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • 95% standing, lifting, climbing, and walking.
  • Frequent heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Production environment, non-controlled conditions.
  • Provided PPE must be worn when required and safety precautions must be followed.
    • Half and full-face respirators when required, approximately 10% of duties.
    • Safety Gloves (Nitrile).
    • Safety Glasses.
    • Safety toe, slip resistant sole shoes.
