Position Overview

As a Technology Engineer Sr within PNC's C&IB organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Dallas, TX.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technology Engineer Sr to design, implement, automate, and support enterprise-scale infrastructure and application platforms. This role will be responsible for driving automation, improving platform reliability, enabling continuous delivery practices, strengthening security posture, and supporting development teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle. You'll be working primarily in the non-production space alongside a large team of multiple development crews, however, there is an expectation that you will work on off-hour production releases and support as needed.
The ideal candidate combines strong infrastructure expertise with software engineering practices and has deep experience in Linux, Web/Application servers, CI/CD pipelines, containerized workloads, observability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering & Infrastructure
• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure platforms.
• Manage Linux-based server environments and containerized applications.
• Implement infrastructure/Configuration as code (IaC/CaC) using Ansible
• Perform platform upgrades, patching, certificate management, and lifecycle maintenance activities.
CI/CD & Automation
• Leverage and troubleshoot automated build, deployment, and release pipelines.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
• Collaborate with development teams to streamline software delivery and deployment processes.
Reliability & Operations
• Monitor application and infrastructure health using observability and APM tooling like Dynatrace
• Perform log analysis using tooling such as logscale and Elasticsearch.
• Improve system resiliency, performance, and scalability.
• Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues mainly in the non-production environment ( RND/UAT/QA )
Security & Compliance
• Manage vulnerability remediation for infrastructure and application components.
• Ensure compliance with PNC security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support identity management, secrets management, and certificate lifecycle management.
Release & Change Management
• Coordinate release activities across multiple applications focused primarily on non-production with periodic production releases.
• Support deployment planning, rollback strategies, and change control processes.
• Collaborate with development, quality engineering, infrastructure, security, and architecture teams.
Technical Leadership
• Mentor junior engineers and promote team and PNC best practices.
• Establish, document and enforce team standards, operational procedures, and automation frameworks.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and technology modernization efforts.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve reliability and delivery velocity.
Qualifications -
• Strong experience with Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
• Strong experience with Tomcat application and Apache web servers.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Experience with messaging/streaming technologies such as IBM MQ and Confluent Kafka
• Experience with database technology such as Oracle, MySQL and MongoDB
• Experience with container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with automation tooling such as Ansible.
• Experience with Redis cache.
• Experience with Git-based source control and branching strategies.
• Understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, SSL/TLS, and security concepts.
• Familiar with development frameworks especially Java and Angular ( not a developer level of knowledge )
• Understanding the usage of key/certificate management.
• Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Logscale, Elastic, Splunk, or similar.
• Experience troubleshooting complex multi-tiered application issues.
