Job description

Job Title: Linux System Administrator
Location: Chantilly, VA - Government Site
Salary: $145,000/yr.
Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10%
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • We are seeking a Linux System Administrator to work with a focused and fun team to engineer, build, deploy, and maintain multiple environments for the purpose of development, testing, and production hosting of custom enterprise business applications on behalf of a government customer.
  • You will be providing onsite and remote support of Tier 1 -3 engineering support requests. Infrastructures consist of various Desktops, Servers, Storage, Networks, and Virtual technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administrator of Linux servers and MySQL database servers in an AWS cloud environment.
  • Administrator of cloud environments AWS/Azure and usage of cloud services.
  • Contribute to application and database migration activities.
  • Develop scripts for automation of build-out, maintenance, and configuration of virtualized systems.
  • Deployment of updates, IAVA patches, and Anti-Virus updates.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and communications problems.
  • Maintains web application hosting systems to include web servers, database servers, and associated development systems (e.g., Team Foundation Server)
  • Maintains system reliability and uptime of production applications by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Contributes to system configuration management in accordance with contract inventory and customer requirements.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation including process diagrams, standard operating procedures, and system documentation.

Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of Systems Administration Experience
  • Understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Centos, Ubuntu, Fedora, Scientific Linux, Debian, Amazon L2 etc.).
  • Ability to research the latest technological developments in relevant operating systems to identify impact and anticipate changes in the organization's operating environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience Configuring and maintaining Linux servers.
  • Demonstrated experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) (C2S) systems administration.
  • Experience deploying AWS features (Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancer, CloudWatch, Lambda, Elastic Container Service).
  • Experience with scripting tools (PowerShell, JSON, BASH and PYTHON
  • Experience with infrastructure troubleshooting, to include direct interaction with vendors and service providers.
  • Experience patching and updating Linux server operating systems and configuring Linux server network integration.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, procurement, tradecraft, or maintenance of various layers of network infrastructure.
