Job description

We are actively seeking a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our Digital Platform team. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and managing software, hardware, and security as it relates to Linux operating systems.  This role will collaborate across a variety of teams to meet the needs of our many different Linux use cases in products, product testing, user support and cloud software deployments.
 
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Build scalable, reliable, secure system for provisioning and field update of embedded Linux systems with image-based updates and automatic rollback
  • Maintain robust, secure Linux infrastructure that supports flight test, charge systems, and other product teams
  • Support Innovation at Scale: Build and manage standard images and management frameworks that allow autonomous teams to move quickly while adhering to BETA standards, required software setup, and vetted distribution packages
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Implement enterprise-grade security and monitoring systems that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Administer Linux endpoints across the enterprise, including user laptops, engineering data loggers, and manufacturing tools, to maintain supported and secure device management within IT standards
  • Accelerate Deployment Cycles: Create automated deployment and testing environments that enable rapid deployment of physical and virtual systems
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, or similar distributions)
  • Strong knowledge of identity and access management (SAML, OAuth, LDAP, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Intune
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Landscape, Ansible, Puppet, or similar)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, and PowerShell)
  • Experience with automated patching and update management systems
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls)
  • Cloud platform expertise (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Container orchestration experience (Docker and Kubernetes)
  • DevOps/GitOps methodology experience with CI/CD pipeline management
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux systems and real-time operating environments
  • Relevant certifications (RHCE, CompTIA Security+, AWS Solutions Architect, or similar)
  • Experience with PXE boot environments and bare-metal provisioning systems
  • Knowledge of security hardening practices and compliance frameworks (such as NIST 800-171 and CMMC 2.0)
  • HPC cluster administration experience (Slurm, PBS, SGE) including job scheduling, resource management, and performance optimization
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Off-hours work is required to perform off-hours system maintenance
  • Up to 10% travel may be required
