JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY: The Windows System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, optimization, and continuous improvement of Andersen's enterprise Windows server infrastructure. This role supports on-premises and cloud-hosted environments and partners with infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, and application teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology services. Responsibilities include server administration, performance optimization, automation, monitoring, incident response, disaster recovery, and platform lifecycle management. This is a hybrid role based out of our Oak Park Heights, MN office location.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Infrastructure Operations and Support: Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments across on-premises and Microsoft Azure platforms. Monitor server health, capacity, performance, availability, and utilization to ensure reliable operations. Perform operating system patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening. Support enterprise virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere and cloud-hosted infrastructure. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for planned maintenance and critical production incidents.
  • Microsoft Platform Administration: Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, account provisioning, and related identity services. Support Remote Desktop Services environments, including session hosts, connection brokers, licensing, user access, performance optimization, and troubleshooting. Manage enterprise file services using Distributed File System, including namespaces, replication, permissions, access controls, and data availability. Support Microsoft Azure services and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
  • Security, Recovery, and Resiliency: Configure and maintain backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to support data protection and system resiliency. Support security compliance, vulnerability management, and operational risk reduction activities. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to reduce recurring issues.
  • Automation and Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement automation opportunities that improve efficiency, consistency, and service reliability. Develop and maintain scripts and automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or related technologies. Contribute to platform modernization and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, configuration standards, and support processes. Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, network, and cybersecurity teams to support project delivery and operational excellence. Engage third-party vendors for troubleshooting, support coordination, and maintenance activities. Communicate technical requirements, issues, risks, and status clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of enterprise Windows systems administration experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, or 2025.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, Remote Desktop Services, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise file services.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Azure services, and enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
  • Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

PAY RANGE: $78,824.00 - $122,176.00

PROFIT SHARING:

In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
