Linux/Windows Systems Administrator
Experience: 4 Years

Location: Springfield, VA
Clearance: Secret
Position Overview: The Linux/Windows Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organization's Linux and Windows server infrastructure. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Linux and Windows operating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. System Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows servers.
    • Perform routine system monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement system upgrades, patches, and new applications.
  2. Security Management:
    • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard systems against unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and data breaches.
    • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement corrective actions.
    • Stay updated on the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
  3. Scripting and Automation:
    • Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell to automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and improve system efficiency.
    • Create and update documentation for scripts, configurations, and procedures.
  4. User Support:
    • Provide technical support to end-users for Linux and Windows-related issues.
    • Collaborate with the helpdesk team to resolve escalated support tickets in a timely manner.
  5. Monitoring and Performance Tuning:
    • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address system issues.
    • Perform performance tuning to optimize server and application performance.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, network administrators, and security professionals.
    • Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Security+ certification or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Proven experience in Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • RHCE, MCSA, or MCSE.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
