Job description

The Defense Sector at Leidos is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support an excitingAir Force Life Cycle Management Center program.This role involvessupportingthe delivery of comprehensive IT and support services to ensure mission success while adhering to DoD standards and regulations.This role includes system configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring the security and integrity ofsystems and infrastructure. TheSystems Engineerwill work closely with cross-functional teams to supporton-sitesystem deployments, software updates, and operational readiness, ensuring that all systems meet security, performance, and availability requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to travel to support customer sites andparticipatein hardware installation and configuration.

  • Install, configure, andmaintainphysical and virtual Linux andWindows servers.

  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Identifyand resolvetechnical issues that arise within a complex system or network infrastructure.

  • Manage system patches, upgrades, and security hardening in compliance with DoD policies.

  • Provide support for system backups, disaster recovery, and data integrity.

  • Assistin managing system access, user accounts, and security configurations.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to support software deployments andintegration.

  • Ensure system documentation ismaintainedand up to date.

  • Participate in incident response and resolve issues related to system performance, security, and availability.

  • Coordinate with Government network owners to understand requirements for new locations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with at least an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a SCI prior to your start date.

  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience or a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • DoD 8140 intermediate certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher.

  • Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, or similar directory services.

  • Strong foundational experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.

  • Strong experience administering complex environments with Linux and Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or unstructured information.

  • Self-starter thatis able towork independently whilepossessingthe communication skills to work effectively withmultiple cross functionalteams and customers.

  • Excellent interpersonal,verbaland written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance and the ability to maintain that clearance during your employment.

  • Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).

  • Windows Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CompTIA Server+).

  • Familiarity with cloud-based account management and infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).

  • Experience in managing accounts across various platforms (e.g., Windows, Linux, macOS).

  • Knowledge of automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python).

  • Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow and Atlassian Jira Service Management.
