Description:

Basic Purpose:

The Senior System Engineer is primarily responsible for all aspects of administration, enhancement and problem resolution for Eaton Vance’s server and storage environment. As a senior role in the team, focus will be placed on taking the lead to support and maintain existing server and storage systems, identify areas for improvement for performance and availability, and to strengthen security posture. This position requires working independently in a team-based environment to meet prescribed goals and objectives.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Configuration, performance tuning, capacity planning, administration and upgrades relating to the storage environment
  • Support on-premises and cloud-based NetApp systems providing block and file services
  • Lead migration efforts of file servers to multiple target locations
  • Lead secure hardening initiatives for the storage environment
  • Optimize infrastructure monitoring and metrics to measure high levels of system uptime and performance
  • Identify areas where automation for operational improvement of day-to day manual tasks can be deployed across all Compute & Storage technologies
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure team in the troubleshooting and resolution of SAN/NAS, server and application related issues.

 Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in an enterprise systems environment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with Netapp
  • Experience with Linux, VMware, AWS ec2
  • Proven ability to automate with Powershell and/or Ansible is preferred
  • Experience with encrypting data-at-rest on multiple storage platforms, including NetApp,
  • Experience with application design, sizing and disaster recovery processes required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project management focus to meet required time lines.
  • Good problem solving skills, enthusiastic work approach and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work within predefined guidelines pertaining to change control and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with others in all levels of the organization.
