Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Informatics and IT team has responsibility for infrastructure/technical planning, implementation and support for systems. Specific responsibilities include installing and supporting system hardware and software, performing system upgrades, and evaluating and installing patches and software updates. Responsibilities also include operational support activities such as resolving software and hardware related problems, managing backup and recovery activity, administering technology layers, managing monitoring and alerting functioning, performing capacity planning and conducting version management. System Engineers work closely with architects, infrastructure support, database administrators and application support teams to ensure seamless and quality IT support for the organization with IT standards, controls, and governance.


To be successful, individuals must possess a combination of technical, business and leadership skills. This required an understanding of customer's business needs, processes, and functions. They also required a solid knowledge of IT infrastructure, architecture, applications development and support, networks, and computer operations. In addition, individuals working in this job family must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages and monitors all installed IT systems, tools, and infrastructure components
  • Installs, configures, tests and maintains, application software and system management tools for assigned components
  • Maintains security, backup, and redundancy strategies for assigned components
  • Maintains patch cycles on any assigned systems, tools, and/or infrastructure components
  • Manages tickets submitted by end users for resolution
  • Participates in On-Call rotation for production support issues for assigned components.
  • Writes and maintains documentation on installed systems and infrastructure components
  • Participates in minor projects associated to the enhancement, upgrade/patching, or implementation of new or existing technology solutions
  • Handles limited project assignments that are small in scope and low in complexity

  • General understanding of Infrastructure and relative technologies, network connectivity and protocols, of storage related protocols (ISCSI, NFS, CIFS, NDMP), SAN And NAS storage infrastructures (Netapp) storage networking infrastructures (Cisco), RAID levels and disk technologies require
  • One year experience with complex Active Directory structures, Desktop and Server security patching processes, Windows Desktop Operating Systems including advanced troubleshooting skills required
  • Working knowledge of common operating systems (Windows, Linux) required
