Columbia Technology Partners is seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to support and maintain enterprise infrastructure environments. This role focuses on the administration of Linux systems, enterprise storage, backup and recovery, vulnerability management, and security hardening. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with IBM Enterprise Storage, Veritas NetBackup, and security compliance tools, along with the ability to analyze system requirements, optimize performance, and support secure, highly available environments in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Linux systems within production environments
  • Manage and support IBM Enterprise Storage solutions to ensure performance, availability, and reliability
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Veritas NetBackup for enterprise backup and recovery operations
  • Perform system patching and package management using YUM repositories and defined patching strategies
  • Execute vulnerability scans using Nessus and remediate findings to maintain compliance with security standards
  • Implement and maintain system security configurations, hardening measures, and NSF-aligned security frameworks
  • Support STE/STIN environments and processes in accordance with organizational security requirements
  • Conduct system performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
  • Perform routine health checks and proactive analysis to identify risks, issues, and optimization opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure upgrades, audits, and incident response efforts
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and compliance artifacts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 3+ years of Linux system administration experience (RHEL/CentOS)
  • Hands-on experience with IBM Enterprise Storage, Veritas NetBackup administration, and YUM-based patching and package management
  • Strong background in system security, vulnerability scanning and remediation (Nessus), STE/STIN processes, and NSF-aligned compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability in system hardening, performance tuning, troubleshooting, scripting (Bash/Python), and supporting enterprise, high-availability environments
