Position Overview:
RTX is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux System Administrator with extensive experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Automation, and Windows Active Directory integration. The ideal candidate will also possess a strong understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and demonstrate the ability to manage secure, mission-critical systems in a fast-paced environment. The role will involve implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems to ensure optimal performance and security in support of RTX's aerospace and defense operations.
What You Will Do:
  • Install, configure, and maintain RHEL-based Linux systems and Windows servers to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to optimize system administration and operational tasks using a version control repository and a DevSecOps approach.
  • Perform system upgrades, apply patches, and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain platform stability with an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach using Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
  • Perform system monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Apply security hardening and compliance practices to meet government and industry standards using a GitOps philosophy for operational updates.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control in a secure environment using a GitOps philosophy for operational updates.
  • Assist in system backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system configuration, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process and procedural documentation for both end-users and administrators.
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, with experience working across multiple sites and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Identity and Access Management practices and ITIL methodologies.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of Certificates and Certificate Management, along with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Minimum 5 years OS troubleshooting experience with Windows 11, RHEL 9/10, and Windows Server systems for agent issues.
  • Minimum 5 years in networking and networking concepts along with basic network troubleshooting tools like ping, tracert, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years of Active Directory and Active Directory concepts along with basic AD tools like ADUC, DNS, sites and services, etc.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TOP SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Security + or equivalent.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence to support project management and team collaboration.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions and familiarity with automation tools to streamline processes.
  • Experience with cloud environments and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using version control (Git, BitBucket, or similar technologies) and orchestration (Jenkins, Ansible Automation Platform, or similar technologies) using a GitOps philosophy.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with network protocols and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NTP).
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF, or DoD STIGs).
  • Knowledge of RSA SecurID Software and Portals.
  • Knowledge of Centrify (Delinea) implementation, configuration, and management.
  • Knowledge of Apache Tomcat, including installation, configuration, performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with SUSE Linux, specifically in managing and configuring Authentication Manager OS.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
