IT Infrastructure Engineer / Network & Systems Specialist

Kane County, Illinois Type: Long Term Contract

Role Summary

Kane County is seeking experienced IT Infrastructure resources to support County-wide network and infrastructure operations including voice/data networks, wireless systems, cybersecurity technologies, data center operations, virtualization, backup/disaster recovery, and system administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support enterprise network infrastructure (voice, data, fiber, wireless/cellular).
  • Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs.
  • Support SIEM tools, security monitoring, incident response.
  • Perform infrastructure assessments and recommend improvements.
  • Support data center operations, server patching, capacity planning.
  • Manage backup systems and contribute to disaster recovery planning/testing.
  • Support virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V) and system administration tasks.
  • Document infrastructure processes, diagrams, and configurations.
Required Skills
  • Network operations: LAN/WAN, VPN, VLAN, routing/switching
  • Voice/Data/Fiber/Wireless networking
