Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career-driven, and customer-focused Senior Linux and VMWare System Administrator to join our team in Laurel, MD.

This position supports the high-visibility Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) organization, responsible for the delivery and security of MPO’s Enterprise Information Technology (EIT), the foundation for enterprise-wide services. As a Senior System Administrator, you will work alongside customers, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and vendors to support the implementation and compliance of advanced EIT capabilities through Data Center & Compute Services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring & problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, etc.
  • Configure and manage Linux, and possibly Windows operating systems, installs/loads operating system software and patches to maintain security compliance, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability & performance.
  • Patching and updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.
  • Adding / Removing users and setting permissions to meet certain user privileges.
  • Working with STIGs and fixing/updating vulnerabilities with STE/STN findings.
  • Renew Linux server certificates and applying updates to TLS security versions.
  • Working with automation software such as ANSIBLE to streamline updates and patching.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant System Administration experience OR Associates degree with 15 years of relevant System Administration experience
  • Senior level Linux Systems Administration experience is required
  • Experience with VMWARE, vSphere, VCF (VMware Cloud Foundations)
  • Server and Hardware maintenance
  • Knowledge of patching & updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20 years of relevant System Administration experience (no degree requirement)
  • Experience with Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like NAGIOS.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a current/active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
