Linux Engineer

As a Linux Engineer, you'll be the cornerstone of this mission, ensuring the security of crucial data, optimizing IT infrastructure, and simplifying business processes through cutting-edge software systems. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
  • Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups archive operations
  • Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users
  • May coach and provide guidance to less experience professionals
  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, ICMP, ssh and SNMP
  • Responsible for provisioning virtual and physical servers or workstations
  • Knowledge of repository management practices, patch administration, and vulnerability remediation
  • May serve as a team or task lead
  • Administering systems using automation and scripting tools to include CLI, Ansible, or various coding languages
  • Skilled in system administration tasks such as file system, network, and account troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts
  • Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies
  • Conducts advanced audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions
  • Performs advanced software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Troubleshoots complex system hardware and software issues

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of related experience as a Linux Administrator

Preferred Certifications:
  • Security+ Certification
  • Linux+ Certification
  • Additional Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE and LPIC) desired
  • Network+ Certification
