Job Description

The Platform Engineer performs day-to-day database administration, platform services maintenance, and infrastructure support for the engineering team in an on-premises environment. This role Database environments, executes backup and recovery procedures, optimizes query performance, administers platform services such as Redis, MinIO, and Kafka, and supports Linux and Windows server maintenance and security operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day database administration including monitoring, patching, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Execute and verify database backup, recovery, and restore procedures according to established schedules
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance — identify slow queries, review execution plans, and recommend index improvements
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain on-premises platform services Event Streaming Services, Message Brokers, and Object Storage Clusters.
  • Manage platform services’ security — user access provisioning, role assignments, and permission audits
  • Support Windows Server and Linux server maintenance tasks related to database and platform service hosting environments
  • Assist with basic CI/CD pipeline operations — trigger builds, monitor deployments, and troubleshoot pipeline failures
  • Maintain database and platform services’ documentation including schema diagrams, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required
  • Database administration — backup/recovery, monitoring, and basic performance troubleshooting
  • T‑SQL, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and query execution plans
  • Database security fundamentals — user management, role‑based access, and audit logging
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills under pressure
Preferred
  • Microsoft certifications in SQL Server or Azure Data (DP‑300, or equivalent)
  • Experience with SQL Server/Postgres high availability features — AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Mirroring
  • Exposure to on‑premises platform services such as Redis, MinIO, Kafka, or similar
  • Basic familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps Pipelines)
  • Experience in manufacturing or enterprise systems environments
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in database administration or a database‑heavy development/support role
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years with hands‑on SQL Server and Linux administration experience
