Job description

Job Summary:
Visual Soft, Inc is seeking qualified candidates to work on their efforts with a Prime for their end customer, a federal agency in Huntsville, AL. The role involves supporting mission-critical systems within a classified defense program as a Senior Linux System Administrator with expertise in AWS cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS, EFS).
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Monitor system performance, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement performance tuning.
• Patch and harden Linux systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance requirements.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in accordance with DoD standards.
• Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous monitoring and incident response.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum sprints, providing infrastructure support to development and QA teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active Top Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
• Proficiency in troubleshooting networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline).
• Working knowledge of security hardening (STIGs, CIS benchmarks) and RMF controls.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred:
• Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS).
• Experience with AWS GovCloud or classified AWS regions.
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
• Security+, CISSP, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification.
• Exposure to monitoring tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
