The Technical Lead - Data Center Operations oversees daily server and network operations, providing onsite support for the local data center and Network POP while remotely supporting OVHcloud data centers across the United States. This role supports customer orders, data center network deployments, infrastructure standards, service continuity, and operational performance. Serving as a primary escalation owner, the position coordinates across internal teams to resolve issues, improve procedures, and maintain reliable data center operations.
Base pay range: $34.00- $42.00 per hour (based on relevant experience).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development, integration, maintenance, and operation of IT infrastructure systems and services in partnership with Data Center Operations IT staff.
  • Coordinate with Project Management to ensure project timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate with Service Delivery to ensure Enterprise customer orders are processed and billed properly.
  • Deploy top-of-rack switches, complete post-configuration activities, and perform quality checks.
  • Monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues escalated by Data Center Operations IT staff.
  • Support infrastructure device guidelines, policies, configuration standards, and best practices for data center teams.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure IT systems and services remain compliant with ISO and SOC requirements.
  • Ensure operations meet internal OLAs and external SLAs.
  • Monitor environmental conditions to support proper equipment performance and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Support, and data center managers to develop action plans that improve operations and communication.
  • Gather data on common processes and work with supporting teams to develop more efficient procedures.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and provide training to technicians.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact between data center IT operations and internal teams.
  • Identify work requiring change management and organize data center change management requests.
  • Notify stakeholders of issues as needed and escalate issues when required.
  • Deploy and maintain network equipment in PoP sites.
  • Maintain required on-call availability.
     
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting a mission-critical data center providing IT services.
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented while communicating concisely.
  • Advanced understanding of computer and network hardware, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Solid understanding of data center networking, switching, routing, troubleshooting, and configuration of servers and network devices.
  • Knowledge of racking and stacking equipment, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment, and data center power infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with physical site security protocols.
  • Ability to travel minimally, up to 10%, as business needs require.
  • On-call availability to support data center operations, escalations, and business-critical infrastructure needs.

  • Experience with common Linux and Windows commands and tools.
  • Experience with Arista and Cisco network configurations and commands.
  • Previous experience working in a high-availability data center environment.
  • CompTIA certifications, including A+, Network+, Security+, and Linux+.

Working Conditions
This role operates in an onsite data center and Network POP environment and may also provide remote support to OVHcloud data centers across the United States. Work may involve equipment areas, server rooms, network spaces, and standard office or remote support settings. Minimal travel, up to 10%, may be required based on operational or business needs. On-call availability is required to support escalations, incident response, and continuity of operations.
With or without reasonable accommodation, this role frequently involves handling, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, or crawling. The role may also require occasional lifting and/or moving of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
