Job description

Five Rivers Analytics is looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer. The Cloud Platform Engineer designs, implements, and sustains secure, scalable, and automated Kubernetes platform capabilities within DoD cloud environments. This role enables application teams to adopt cloud-native patterns while ensuring cybersecurity compliance and operational reliability. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!
Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes platforms (EKS) for multi-tenant enterprise workloads.
  • Lead application migration to containerized architectures.
  • Build reusable platform components such as operators, Helm charts, and IaC modules.
  • Automate cluster lifecycle tasks (provisioning, upgrades, scaling, patching).
  • Develop IaC with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Implement monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Troubleshoot cluster, node, networking, and application issues.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Implement RBAC, IAM roles for service accounts, and least-privilege policies.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
  • Support application modernization and migration strategies.
  • Provide Tier 3 engineering support and documentation.

Qualifications
  • Interim Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Engineering, Math, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience (Bachelor's) or 6+ years (Master's).
  • Hands-on AWS experience (EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, ECR).
  • Experience with Kubernetes architecture and operations.
  • Experience with Docker and container security.
  • Experience with IaC tools.
  • Understanding of DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, with preference given to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in enterprise or DoD environments.
  • Experience in Agile/SAFe environments.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced experience operating Kubernetes/EKS clusters in production at scale.
  • Proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation for modular IaC provisioning.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible or similar tools for configuration automation.
  • Experience implementing GitOps workflows with ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Strong background designing cloud-native platform components (Helm charts, operators, reusable modules).
  • Experience with container security tools (Anchore, Twistlock, Aqua).
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
  • Experience implementing RBAC, IAM Roles for Service Accounts (IRSA), and least-privilege models.
  • Proven ability to build automated cluster lifecycle workflows (upgrades, scaling, patching).
  • Experience with multi-cluster or multi-region Kubernetes operations.
  • Strong understanding of DoD cloud security frameworks (STIGs, NIST 800-53, RMF).
  • Experience integrating observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues within distributed container platforms.
