Job description

EPM Cloud Automation & Scheduler Engineer

We are seeking an EPM Cloud Automation & Scheduler Engineer to design, build, and support automation workflows for Oracle EPM Cloud operations. The role focuses on Linux administration, Bash shell scripting, operational automation using EPM Automate commands, and enterprise scheduling using ESP Scheduler. The engineer will ensure reliable, auditable, and efficient execution of recurring EPM administrative processes such as report extractions, backups, maintenance activities, integrations, and notifications.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Development (Linux/Bash + EPM Automate)

  • Develop and maintain Bash shell scripts on Linux to automate Oracle EPM Cloud operational tasks, including standardized logging, retries, alerting, and robust error handling.
  • Automate EPM security/reporting tasks using EPM Automate commands (e.g., userGroupReport, roleAssignmentReport, exportAccessControl) and orchestrate end-to-end runs across configured environments.
  • Perform controlled automation to support compliance/audit readiness by generating complete and timely EPM reports and artifacts.

Scheduling & Orchestration (ESP Scheduler)

  • Design and manage scheduling workflows using ESP Scheduler, including creating/scheduling ESP jobs (e.g., creation of ESP jobs for EPM reporting/automation) and monitoring for conflicts/failures
  • Build ESP job chains/applications to execute EPM maintenance/automation activities within approved windows and ensure operational stability.
  • Troubleshoot scheduler failures and reduce reruns by improving script resiliency and job dependency design

EPM Cloud Operations Support

  • Support EPM Cloud administrative/ops activities such as environment logins, exports, downloads, refresh operations, and snapshot/backup procedures where applicable.
  • Implement operational notification workflows (start/end maintenance notifications, exception alerts, run summaries) via scripted email notifications.
  • Coordinate with EPM Support, Infrastructure, and Governance stakeholders to deliver automation improvements and ensure smooth production operations.

File Handling, Monitoring & Integrations

  • Automate validations for processed/unprocessed files and handle archive/NAS folder checks as part of scheduled automation workflows.
  • Assist in integration-related operational monitoring and reporting to improve visibility and reduce manual checks.

Perl Script Reuse (TBD)

  • Re-use and execute existing Perl scripts where required, performing minor updates only if needed (e.g., parameterization, logging, compatibility fixes).
Required Skills & Experience
  • Linux (user/process/file permissions, scheduling basics, log review, troubleshooting)
  • Strong Bash shell scripting experience (functions, exit codes, traps, parsing, structured logs, automation best practices)
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle EPM Cloud operational processes and automation approach.
  • Strong working knowledge of EPM Automate and executing operational commands for administrative reporting and exports (e.g., userGroupReport, roleAssignmentReport, exportAccessControl).
  • Experience with ESP Scheduler (job creation, scheduling, dependencies, monitoring, reruns, failure triage).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Perl scripting familiarity (reading/debugging existing scripts; minor modifications)
  • Experience with compliance-focused reporting and audit readiness automation.
  • Experience building automation that reduces manual effort and improves operational efficiency.
