Job description

The System Administrator supports the organization's core infrastructure with a specialized focus on enterprise storage systems, particularly NetApp ONTAP and Azure cloud storage solutions. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing storage environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with NetApp storage arrays, Azure storage services, and general Windows/Linux system administration.
  • Manage and maintain NetApp ONTAP storage systems, including volumes, aggregates, snapshots, and replication.
  • Monitor storage performance, capacity, and health, ensuring optimal availability and reliability.
  • Configure and support CIFS/NFS shares, quotas, and access controls.
  • Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance for NetApp hardware.
  • Troubleshoot storage-related issues across servers, applications, and network paths.
  • Administer Azure storage accounts, including Blob, File, and Disk storage.
  • Implement and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies using Azure tools.
  • Monitor cloud storage performance, cost, and utilization, recommending optimizations where needed.
  • Ensure secure configurations aligned with organizational policies and cloud best practices.
  • Provide Tier II/III support for Windows and/or Linux servers, including patching, updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity-related tasks.
  • Support virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) and their integration with storage systems.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, storage layouts, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor storage and system health using approved tools and dashboards.
  • Track and report on capacity, performance trends, and storage consumption.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend hardware lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with networking, security, and cloud teams to ensure end-to-end service reliability.
  • Ensure storage environments meet organizational security standards and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and maintain encryption, access controls, and secure data handling practices.
  • Support audits, inventory reviews, and configuration management activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in information technology, systems administration or other IT related field.

Other Job Specific Skills
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP administration.
  • Experience managing Azure storage services (Blob, File, Disk, ANF, or File Sync).
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI).
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux system administration.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
  • Ability to troubleshoot across storage, OS, network, and application layers.

Preferred Skills
  • NetApp certifications (NCDA, NCIE).
  • Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or similar).
