IBM MQ Admin

Location: Bethlehem, PA (Hybrid)

Job Type: Contract

 

Job Description:

Customer is seeking a Senior IBM MQ Administrator with hands-on experience building IBM MQ systems from the ground up. The ideal candidate excels at complex troubleshooting, communicates effectively with both technical and business teams, and values a culture focused on integrity, high standards, and collaboration.

 

You are

A self-starter who is fueled by collaboration, able to transform conceptual thinking into executable insights who thrives in partnering across the company with software developers and internal and external customers, able to work independently and as team.

 

Required Skills:

•            10+ years of experience

•            Strong hands-on expertise in IBM MQ Administration

•            In-depth understanding of messaging concepts and design patterns

•            Proven experience implementing High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions

•            MQ Security (TLS, CHLAUTH, OAM)

•            Proficient in Linux/Unix system administration

•            Working knowledge of IBM Application Connect Enterprise (ACE), formerly IBM Integration Bus (IIB)

•            Experience with shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency

•            Demonstrated ability to drive impact quickly, lead change, and work effectively with minimal supervision

 

Good to have Skills:

•            Experience integrating applications with WebSphere Application Server

•            Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, along with familiarity with DevOps practices

•            Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools, including Splunk

•            Working knowledge of Java programming

 

Responsibilities:

•            Design, develop, and deliver IBM MQ solutions, including Multi-Instance Queue Managers and High Availability (HA) architectures

•            Lead IBM MQ deployments, including automation and standardization initiatives

•            Participate in on-call support on a rotational basis to ensure platform stability and availability

•            Contribute to AWS cloud migration and modernization projects

•            Collaborate effectively with both onshore and offshore teams

•            Provide hands-on technical solutions to complex business challenges, translating requirements into scalable technical and process solutions

•            Interpret business and technical requirements, perform complex analysis, and present options and recommendations to achieve desired outcomes

•            Develop advanced technology concepts and guide them through implementation into production-ready solutions

•            Own middleware patching and upgrade activities, including IBM MQ and IBM Application Connect Enterprise (ACE)
