What is a lint?

Lint jobs refer to tasks or processes that use linting tools to analyze source code for potential errors, stylistic issues, and code quality problems. Linting helps developers maintain consistent coding standards and catch problems early in the development cycle. People performing lint jobs often integrate these tools into automated build systems or code review processes to ensure code quality across projects.

What are some common challenges faced by lint engineers when integrating linting tools into large-scale codebases?

Lint engineers often encounter challenges such as configuring linting rules that balance code quality standards with existing project practices and minimizing disruption for development teams. In large codebases, it can be difficult to address a high volume of initial linting errors without overwhelming developers or slowing down the workflow. Collaborating closely with developers and team leads to phase in rules and automate fixes can help ensure smoother adoption and long-term maintainability.
