Job description

Lemontree Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and reliable Linen Technician to join our Environmental Services team. The Linen Technician is responsible for the receiving, handling, cleaning, and distribution of linens to ensure that patient care areas are always stocked with clean and sanitary linens in accordance with healthcare standards.

Job Type: Full-time   Location: St Joseph Medical Center 
Schedule: Monday-Friday and weekends
Shift: 6:00am-2:30pm
Pay Rate: $11.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute clean linen throughout the healthcare facility.
  • Ensure that linens are sorted by type, color, and condition to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Monitor linen inventory levels and report shortages to the Environmental Services Manager.
  • Perform regular inspections of linen supplies to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in linen storage areas, ensuring that linens are properly stored and readily accessible.
  • Follow all safety protocols, infection control practices, and hospital policies while handling linens.
  • Operate laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and folding machines, following proper safety procedures.
  • Assist with the removal of soiled linens from patient rooms, operating rooms, and other areas.
  • Respond promptly to linen requests from various departments, ensuring timely deliveries to meet patient care needs.
  • Adhere to all regulations regarding the safe handling and disposal of linens to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Assist in keeping the linen room and laundry areas clean and orderly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in linen or environmental services in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with healthcare staff.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and move large bags of soiled and clean linens.
  • Ability to operate laundry machinery and other equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) use in healthcare environments preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
