What is a linen tech?

Linen Techs, also known as Linen Technicians, are responsible for handling, sorting, cleaning, and distributing linens such as sheets, towels, and uniforms within healthcare facilities, hotels, or other organizations. Their duties include collecting soiled linens, operating laundry equipment, folding and storing clean items, and ensuring items meet hygiene standards. Linen Techs play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment by ensuring that staff and clients have access to fresh, sanitized linens.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a linen tech?

To thrive as a Linen Tech, you need attention to detail, basic knowledge of sanitation procedures, and the ability to lift and move heavy loads, generally supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with industrial washers, dryers, folding machines, and inventory tracking systems is typically required. Reliability, teamwork, and strong organizational skills help set top performers apart in this role. These skills are crucial for maintaining efficient linen operations, ensuring cleanliness standards, and supporting overall facility hygiene.
