Line Assistant information

What is a line assistant?

Line Assistants are support personnel who help with the smooth operation of production or assembly lines in manufacturing, food processing, or similar industries. Their responsibilities typically include preparing materials, monitoring equipment, assisting operators, and ensuring that products meet quality standards. They play a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency and may also help with cleaning, minor maintenance, and reporting issues to supervisors. Line Assistants often work as part of a team and need to follow safety and operational guidelines closely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a line assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Line Assistant, you need a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with assembly line machinery, safety protocols, and inventory tracking systems is typically required. Strong teamwork, time management, and the ability to follow instructions precisely are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial to ensure efficient workflow, product quality, and a safe working environment on the production line.

What are some common challenges faced by line assistants, and how can they be effectively managed?

Effective communication with team members and supervisors is essential to address issues promptly and minimize downtime. Staying organized, following safety protocols, and proactively monitoring the production line can help Line Assistants manage these challenges efficiently and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Job description

Description:Description

We are looking for a Line Cook to join our pub team to work 20+ hours a week. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of restaurant experience (although we are always willing to train the right person). We have a menu that uses our ciders in many of our dishes to highlight the versatility of our products. We hope to find people that are enthusiastic to learn about cider and our various products, thrive in fast-paced environments, and can work well in a team setting. The schedule is flexible, however Saturday availability is highly valuable.

A little about us. We are located in Burlington's South End right next to BBCO and Switchback Brewery. We are not just a pub as all our ciders are pressed, fermented and packaged on site. We have a full lunch and dinner menu, and retail shop. We get a lot of tourism and cider loves through our doors. Due to our cider being gluten free we also offer a great menu of gluten free fare for our GF guests.

Summary:

To participate in operating a clean, sanitary and orderly kitchen. And to provide quality meals with continuity in Citizen Cider's Pub.

Essential functions:

Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, and grills.
Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking.
Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
Bake, roast, broil, fry, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and provide food to server/bartender or patrons.
Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
Keep records and accounts.
