Line Assistant information

What is a line assistant?

Line Assistants are support personnel who help with the smooth operation of production or assembly lines in manufacturing, food processing, or similar industries. Their responsibilities typically include preparing materials, monitoring equipment, assisting operators, and ensuring that products meet quality standards. They play a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency and may also help with cleaning, minor maintenance, and reporting issues to supervisors. Line Assistants often work as part of a team and need to follow safety and operational guidelines closely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a line assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Line Assistant, you need a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with assembly line machinery, safety protocols, and inventory tracking systems is typically required. Strong teamwork, time management, and the ability to follow instructions precisely are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial to ensure efficient workflow, product quality, and a safe working environment on the production line.

What are some common challenges faced by line assistants, and how can they be effectively managed?

Line Assistants often encounter challenges such as maintaining a consistent workflow during high-volume production periods and quickly adapting to changes in product specifications or equipment. Effective communication with team members and supervisors is essential to address issues promptly and minimize downtime. Staying organized, following safety protocols, and proactively monitoring the production line can help Line Assistants manage these challenges efficiently and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Job description

WE BELIEVE THAT A LIFE OF PURPOSE HAS THE POWER TO TRANSFORM THE WORLD.

This isn't just a job - it's a chance to find your true purpose. We’re a full-service restaurant collection with locations from coast to coast, known for serving nutrient-dense, thoughtfully crafted dishes for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

WHO WE'RE INVITING TO THE TABLE

We’re looking for an experienced full-service Line Cook who knows how to work a busy restaurant line and execute during high-volume service. You’ll prep, cook, and plate dishes to order across stations such as Pantry, Pastry, Pizza, Wok, Sauté, or Grill. Previous full-service, made-to-order line experience is important for success in this role, and experience working multiple stations is a big plus.

And a restaurant-industry perk worth calling out: we close at 9 PM five nights a week —no late-night closes!

RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
  • Execute made-to-order dishes during busy lunch and dinner service
  • Prepare starters, entrées, pizzas, and more across assigned line stations
  • Follow recipes, portions, ticket timing, and quality standards
  • Maintain consistency and presentation during high-volume service
  • Keep your station clean, stocked, organized, and ready for service
  • Assist with prep and opening/closing responsibilities
  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, weighing, measuring, and mixing
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, knives, and equipment
THE PERFECT PAIRING
  • 6+ months of full-service restaurant line experience preferred
  • Experience executing made-to-order food during active service
  • Comfortable working a station and keeping pace with ticket volume
  • Experience on multiple stations such as Grill, Sauté, Wok, Pizza, or Pantry is a plus
  • Strong knife skills and ability to consistently execute recipes
  • Passion for great food and quality presentation
  • Teamwork, speed, communication, and organization under pressure
  • Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and continuously bend, reach, and twist
WHAT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO
  • No late nights—we close at 9 PM most nights
  • AM, PM, and mid-day shifts available
  • Part-time schedules up to 40 hours available
  • A professional, successful work environment with opportunities for growth and a development program designed to help you reach the next step in your career
  • Part-time team members have access to affordable, quality health care through Hooray Health and telehealth options
  • Pet insurance for your fur babies
  • Access to expert guidance through EAP/SupportLinc to help you and your family address everyday challenges
  • Restaurant dining discount
  • Paid volunteer time to support your community and favorite charities
  • Eligibility to give to and receive from the True Giving Fund, which supports team members through life-changing events

If you're excited about working for us and have most of the skills or experience, we're looking for, please go ahead and apply. You could be just what we need!
