Line Assistant information

What is a line assistant?

Line Assistants are support personnel who help with the smooth operation of production or assembly lines in manufacturing, food processing, or similar industries. Their responsibilities typically include preparing materials, monitoring equipment, assisting operators, and ensuring that products meet quality standards. They play a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency and may also help with cleaning, minor maintenance, and reporting issues to supervisors. Line Assistants often work as part of a team and need to follow safety and operational guidelines closely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a line assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Line Assistant, you need a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with assembly line machinery, safety protocols, and inventory tracking systems is typically required. Strong teamwork, time management, and the ability to follow instructions precisely are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial to ensure efficient workflow, product quality, and a safe working environment on the production line.

What are some common challenges faced by line assistants, and how can they be effectively managed?

Line Assistants often encounter challenges such as maintaining a consistent workflow during high-volume production periods and quickly adapting to changes in product specifications or equipment. Effective communication with team members and supervisors is essential to address issues promptly and minimize downtime. Staying organized, following safety protocols, and proactively monitoring the production line can help Line Assistants manage these challenges efficiently and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Job description

Line Cook – Full-Time (Dinner Shift)

Real Culinary Work. Real Work-Life Balance.

Touchmark on West Prospect | Appleton's Leading Full-Service Senior Living Community

Pay: $19.48 – $21.88/hour

Classification: Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime)

Schedule: Full-Time | Dinner Shift (11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.) | Rotating weekends and holidays

About the Opportunity

If you love to cook but you're tired of late nights, inconsistent schedules, and missing out on life outside the kitchen, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
At Touchmark, you'll prepare fresh, restaurant-quality meals as part of a professional culinary team committed to exceptional hospitality. We aren't a cafeteria, and we aren't a typical restaurant. We create thoughtful, seasonal menus (that change weekly!) using quality ingredients and take pride in every plate we serve. Best of all, you'll finish your shift by 7:30 p.m. and still have your evenings to enjoy.

Why You'll Love This Role
  • A culinary program you can be proud of. Prepare fresh, high-quality meals with an emphasis on presentation, consistency, and hospitality.
  • Competitive pay without restaurant burnout. Earn a competitive wage while enjoying a predictable schedule and being home every evening.
  • Outstanding benefits. Full-time team members enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, retirement savings opportunities, bonus programs, and more.
  • Opportunities to grow. Receive ongoing training, mentorship, and education assistance to continue building your culinary career.
  • A supportive kitchen culture. Work alongside talented teammates who value collaboration, professionalism, and great food.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare, cook, and plate meals that meet Touchmark's Gold Standards for quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Deliver exceptional dinner service while maintaining efficient kitchen operations.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
  • Assist with food preparation, inventory rotation, and kitchen organization.
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to provide an outstanding dining experience.
  • Build meaningful relationships with the residents you serve and experience the impact your work has every day.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a high-volume or professional kitchen.
  • Passion for preparing exceptional food and delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification after hire.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

This is more than a line cook position—it's an opportunity to create exceptional dining experiences while enjoying the work-life balance that's hard to find in the restaurant industry.
