The Solution Architect - LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) Specialization will work as part of a Solution Architecture team to deliver technology designs that fulfill project and business requirements while aligning with the Enterprise Architecture principles, development standards and best practices. Our client has a diverse laboratory environment and these solutions range across various business units, enterprise reporting, proprietary APIs and delivery to 100+ countries.


Researching and delivering the best project answer and presenting and receiving approval on designs from the Design Board and project stakeholders is a core responsibility. Arriving at the best project answer requires a strong skillset both in research and in facilitating input from experts throughout the IT and business organization. Delivery of those answers as part of a successful project team to ensure reusability, simplicity and innovative uses of technology is needed, as is being an available expert for various technologies. This position has a deep focus on LIMS technology, but also has expectations for strong experience in integrating with many other systems, data aggregation and reporting strategies, operational efficiencies, infrastructure planning, and assurance of quality in delivery of the platform.


  • Act independently while maintaining top level responsibility for detailed solution analysis and design across the relevant project phases
  • Facilitate and encourage a collaborative approach to solution design within project and product teams; maximize input then decide on, document, and drive the best solution
  • Work closely with internal owners to maintain a vision and 5 year roadmap for functional and technical improvements to the platform
  • Lead a group of internal and external technical contributors, including ensuring development and process standards are in place and delivered against including test harnesses, design reviews, code reviews, suitability of solutions against requirements, etc.
  • Communicate solution designs in a way that is easy to understand for business stakeholders
  • Formulate approach to solution scope and objectives relative to requirements and articulate the problems and business drivers relevant to a solution. Develop conceptual, logical, and physical solutions which address those needs.
  • Create reusable assets, services and frameworks that enable the adoption and usage of solution blueprints
  • Participate as part of a team to effectively integrate core capabilities with new technology to successfully implement development practices and standards definitions
  • Participate in efforts to set technical direction and build capabilities in the IT organization
  • Lead the development of prototypes as required by projects or in support of R&D efforts, investigate new technology, initiatives and opportunities for appropriateness with respect to strategic goals
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of various specific technologies, both internally and within the industry, and its applicability to the organization
  • Ensure industry and our client's best practices and assets are leveraged and improved when necessary. Develop infrastructure standards and troubleshooting procedures across platforms.
  • Lead identification and implementation of opportunities to reduce support costs.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert on cross-functional problem resolution teams.
Qualifications
  • 12 or more years of professional experience as a senior level domain architect in one or more business domains, delivering large-scale solutions.
  • Knowledgeable of: software design principles, patterns and practices; developing and standardizing integrations across a range of systems; both waterfall and agile development practices and audits; performance testing, management and tuning
  • Background documenting and deploying technology and solutions within the contexts of security process and audits, inconsistent network availability and across international boundaries
  • Experience with various integration methodologies, such as XML, web services, queues, APIs, CSV, SAP IDOCs , X12 EDI.
  • Exposure to application and/or infrastructure technologies (including database performance tuning, user session virtualization, global load balancing, network components, server virtualization, clustering, data center delivery, etc.) commonly leveraged to support large-scale, multi-platform enterprise environments and distributed systems across diverse domestic geographies
  • Collaborative problem solving skills
  • Proven experience developing strategic solutions
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and assignments concurrently while maintaining high levels of quality and effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization.
  • Potential for up to 25% international travel
  • Provide support after normal work hours when necessary
