Application Support Engineer – LIMS  – 5 days on site – W2 contract – Millcreek

Job Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join a global IT function supporting validated Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other critical enterprise applications within a highly regulated environment. This role is onsite and focuses on ensuring system stability, compliance, and availability across business-critical platforms used in healthcare and life sciences operations. You will work closely with global IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to maintain high service levels while ensuring strict adherence to change control, audit, and validation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical support for business applications and systems in line with SOPs, work practices, and project specifications
  • Administer and maintain enterprise applications, including validated LIMS platforms
  • Ensure understanding and support of regulated applications under strict compliance and audit controls
  • Participate in Change Management meetings and assess impact of system changes (patching, upgrades, policy updates)
  • Coordinate all application and system changes with IT management and business stakeholders to minimise disruption
  • Monitor application availability, performance, logs, and job failures
  • Lead periodic maintenance activities including OS and application patching
  • Liaise with global IT development and infrastructure teams to ensure operational stability
  • Manage incident and service request resolution via the helpdesk system
  • Collaborate with vendors while ensuring all changes follow internal validation and change control processes
  • Support release management including planning, testing, and deployment of application updates
  • Assist with audit activities including privileged access reviews and compliance reporting
  • Perform problem management analysis and root cause investigations
  • Escalate complex issues to internal IT or development teams as required
  • Maintain system documentation and improve IT knowledge base content
  • Configure and respond to application alerts and job failures in a timely manner
  • Support IT-led projects as assigned

Experience

  • Proven experience in Application Support or similar IT operations role in a medium to large enterprise environment
  • Strong understanding of IT service management processes (Incident, Request, Problem, Change)
  • Experience working with validated or regulated systems is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environments preferred
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC) principles
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and working with global IT teams
  • Ability to quickly understand complex, compliance-driven systems

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, switches)
  • Active Directory and Group Policy administration
  • Windows Server and Linux system administration
  • Experience with application patching and system maintenance
  • Exposure to enterprise applications, databases, or programming/scripting languages advantageous
  • Experience with monitoring tools and alert handling
  • Familiarity with temperature monitoring systems (desirable)

Salary/Package
Hourly rate pretax, dependent on experience

Location
