Job Introduction
Starting at $27.47/hour. Competitive Benefits Package. Rotating 12-hour shifts
United States - WI - Eden
Graymont is one of the largest lime and limestone producers in North America. The Eden Plant is a very well-established operation in Wisconsin with long term commitments for community and environmental stewardship.
The Product Handler will assist both the Assistant Operator and Kiln Operator, loading pebble lime railcars and customer trucks. Additionally, the position will be responsible for cleanliness of assigned areas. This position is a 12-hour rotating shifts. The swing shift is a 2-2-3 rotation; work 2, off 2, work 3, off 2, work 2, off 3 and repeats itself. Every time you come back to work you switch shifts between days and night. It adds up to working every other weekend and once a month you have a long weekend off, starting at 6am Friday until Tuesday 6am. The plant runs 24/7/365 and if your schedule falls on the holidays you are expected to work the holiday unless you have approved time off.
The Role:
  • Comply with all safety rules and standard safety practices
  • Loading product in both railcars and into customer trucks
  • Effectively communicate and cooperate with truck drivers.
  • Must possess the ability to detect and respond to safety hazards and equipment malfunctions in accordance with safety rules and standards.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or move a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Assist in various manual labor tasks around the plant as needed such as housekeeping, greasing, and minor maintenance, etc.
  • Assist maintenance personnel as required.
  • Work in various environments, including weather variations and exposure to fine lime/limestone dust (personal protective equipment is supplied by Graymont)
  • Ability and willingness to be cross-trained in other job functions
  • Able to access and work in ALL areas of plant which include heights up to 125' above ground level
  • Position includes a lot of walking, climbing ladders and stairs

Qualifications:
  • Current Driver's License is a strong asset
  • Over 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Desired
  • Physically fit and ability to work shifts
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, and excellent communication skills
  • Be able to think on your feet and troubleshoot/problem solve
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Possess good math skills including four basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurement
  • Possess computer skills sufficient to work with JDE, Labware, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access, and the ability to learn and understand PLC's (programmable logic controllers)
  • Must possess the ability to read and write the English language to effectively interpret manuals, regulations, reports; must have the ability to complete various types of paperwork.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.
