GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

SALARY RANGE: $115,000 - $125,000/Annually
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Reporting to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Business Department chair will:
โ€ข Articulate and execute a vision for the Business Core and Fashion Management amp; Leadership degree
โ€ข Provide leadership to, and oversight of, the full and part-time faculty, departmental staff, and student workers;
โ€ข Provide direction and guidance in the development of curriculum based on identified employer needs; will establish and maintain high standards for rigor in classroom and for out-of-class activities;
โ€ข Recruit, hire, and retain an outstanding faculty of practitioner-teachers;
โ€ข Evaluate faculty using established tools and protocols; coach/mentor those in need of support or development;
โ€ข Plan for and carry out the professional development of the faculty in partnership with the Office of Learning Innovation;
โ€ข Serve as an active member of the Faculty Council, the Academic Affairs Council, and the Provost Council;
โ€ข Oversee the assessment of core curriculum relative to student achievement of program learning outcomes and other key metrics;
โ€ข Collaborate with fellow department chairs and deans in the development of academic policies and procedures;
โ€ข Teach at least one course per semester during the regular academic year;
โ€ข Actively seek out and promote opportunities for student-faculty collaborations, industry partnerships, student competitions, and similar activities;
โ€ข Prepare departmental reports or updates as requested;
โ€ข Maintain a commitment to, and an environment in support of, academic freedom, professionalism, fairness;
โ€ข Advocate for the studentsโ€™ best academic and professional interests including lending expertise in business professionalism

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
  • Accomplishment of stated yearly goals.
  • Documents and reports are delivered on time, accurately produced and up-to-date, and files are well-maintained.
  • Good communication and coordination exist with all department heads. A professional image is projected and maintained.
  • Implementation of best practices where appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS: The person selected will have the following qualifications:
Education:
โ€ข Must hold an MBA degree;
Required Knowledge:
โ€ข Experience or familiarity with ACBSP accreditation criteria and process strongly preferred;
โ€ข Proficiency with core business technology, including AI applications highly desirable
โ€ข Mastery and innovative use of the latest in retail technologies;
โ€ข Familiarity with the Canvas (or similar) learning management system strongly desired.
Experience Required:
โ€ข Minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience at the management level in a corporate setting;
โ€ข Five to seven years of teaching experience at the college level in a discipline relevant to the business core;
โ€ข Experience as a department chair, program director, or similar position within higher education highly desirable;
โ€ข Experience with project management, client services, human resources, entrepreneurship highly desirable
