Job description

For more than two decades, 3.1 Phillip Lim has defined modern luxury through effortless sophistication, purposeful design, and a belief that style should empower everyday life. As the brand enters its next chapter, we are seeking an Art Director who will help shape and express our evolving visual identity across every customer touchpoint. This role is for someone who is equal parts visionary, designer, storyteller, and creative leader. You'll partner closely with the CEO, Design, Marketing, Ecommerce, Retail, and external creative collaborators to ensure every expression of the brand feels thoughtful, elevated, and unmistakably 3.1 Phillip Lim.

Position Overview

The Art Director is responsible for leading the brand's visual identity across all channels. This person will define how the world experiences 3.1 Phillip Limโ€”translating seasonal collections and brand strategy into compelling visual narratives that inspire customers and strengthen brand equity. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional taste, deep understanding of luxury fashion, and lead in-house or external teams to execute.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Artistic Direction Champion and evolve the visual identity of 3.1 Phillip Lim. Ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints. Develop seasonal creative concepts that support collection launches and brand initiatives. Translate business objectives into inspiring creative solutions. Campaign Creative Concept and art direct seasonal campaigns. Develop mood boards, visual storytelling, casting direction, locations, styling references, and overall creative treatments.

Partner with photographers, stylists, set designers, hair & makeup artists, production teams, and creative agencies. Oversee post-production and final asset delivery.

Graphic Design & Brand Assets Lead the design and execution of: Digital marketing assets Website graphics Lookbooks Invitations Printed collateral Packaging Brand presentations Visual guidelines Digital & E-commerce Partner closely with the Ecommerce and Marketing teams to create: Homepage concepts Product storytelling Editorial features Social-first creative Paid media assets Motion graphics Digital advertising campaigns Social & Content Establish a cohesive visual language across all social platforms.

Guide content creation while maintaining luxury brand standards. Collaborate with content creators and creative partners. Identify emerging visual trends without compromising brand authenticity. Retail Experience Collaborate with Retail and Visual Merchandising teams to create: Window concepts Store graphics In-store storytelling Packaging & Customer Experience Shopping bags Boxes Tissue Hangtags Printed inserts Collaborate with head of Design and freelance creatives.

Build and maintain a network of best-in-class photographers, illustrators, stylists, motion designers, and production partners. Present concepts to Ceo and senior management team with clarity and confidence. Maintain creative excellence while balancing timelines and budgets. Qualifications 8โ€“12+ years of experience in art direction within luxury fashion, lifestyle, or premium consumer brands. Deep understanding of typography, layout, photography, color, composition, and visual storytelling.

Experience directing fashion campaigns and editorial shoots. Strong knowledge of digital content creation and social platforms. Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Experience working with motion design and video production is highly preferred. Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Create a consistent brand language across every customer touchpoint. Produce memorable seasonal campaigns that strengthen brand desirability. Improve the quality and consistency of digital and social content. Build a network of worldโ€class creative collaborators. Help position 3.1 Phillip Lim as one of the most visually distinctive voices in modern luxury.
