About The Role
This role is the company's in-house lighting expert, responsible for supporting product designers, engineers, and sales teams in the development, integration, and application of lighting within Acoufelt products. You will ensure that all lighting solutions meet technical, aesthetic, and compliance requirements, and will serve as the go-to resource for lighting-related questions from both internal teams and external clients, including designers and contractors.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance to product designers and engineers on integrating lighting solutions into product designs.
  • Research and recommend appropriate lighting technologies, components, and suppliers for new and existing products.
  • Develop and maintain technical lighting specifications, documentation, and installation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure lighting designs meet performance, safety, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Support the sales team by answering lighting-related questions from designers, architects, and contractors.
  • Assist with mockups, prototypes, and testing of lighting solutions to validate performance and design intent.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements related to architectural lighting.
  • Coordinate with the Product and Material Manager to ensure all lighting components meet required certifications and quality standards.

Required Abilities
  • 3-5 years of experience in lighting design, lighting engineering, or a related field, preferably in architectural or product-based applications.
  • Strong understanding of lighting technologies, components, and integration into physical products.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling software (Rhino preferred) and lighting design tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical requirements, safety standards, and applicable building codes for lighting.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with designers, engineers, and sales teams.
  • Ability to translate technical lighting requirements into clear guidance for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with sustainability considerations in lighting design is a plus.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field required.
