Job description

Position Overview

Bonneville Contracting and Technology Group is seeking a technically strong and execution-oriented Electrical Project Engineer to support the planning, estimation, and delivery of complex electrical infrastructure projects. This role is designed for a professional who can effectively bridge engineering design and field execution, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable standards. The ideal candidate will have experience working across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure environments, including power distribution, lighting systems, backup power, and low-voltage integrations such as fire alarm and access control systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, reviewing construction drawings, and developing accurate scopes of work for electrical projects. The role requires active involvement in project execution, including coordination with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful delivery. The candidate will oversee installations, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety requirements, and project specifications. This position may require leading teams of up to fifteen personnel, working alongside onsite supervisors to maintain productivity, quality, and adherence to project timelines. The engineer will also support the integration of related systems, including lighting controls, backup power solutions, grounding systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering or a related field, with hands‑on experience in construction and infrastructure projects. Experience in estimating, project execution, and field coordination is essential. Familiarity with electrical systems such as power distribution, switchgear, lighting systems, generators, and UPS systems is required. Exposure to low‑voltage systems such as fire alarm, access control, and telecommunications infrastructure is highly desirable. The candidate must demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple project components simultaneously. Proficiency in engineering software, project management tools, and general computer systems is required. Strong communication and leadership skills are critical.

Work Environment and Travel Requirements

This position requires flexibility to work across project sites in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The candidate must be willing to travel as needed to support project execution. For assignments located more than one hour from the Caguas home office, Bonneville will provide additional accommodation and compensation to support travel and extended stays. The role involves working in active construction environments, both indoors and outdoors.

Compensation and Growth Opportunity

Bonneville offers a competitive compensation package aligned with experience and performance, along with opportunities for advancement within a growing organization. This role provides direct exposure to complex electrical and infrastructure projects, offering the opportunity to develop leadership capabilities and technical expertise in a high‑impact environment.
