About the Position  

This position provides overall direction for outside line construction projects including overhead/underground line transmission and distribution and substation/switchyard construction projects. As a Project Manager, you will provide overall administrative and direction for large construction and installation projects. You will provide technical and engineering support as required by the projects needed.  Project Managers play a key role in having overall bottom- line responsibility for profit and loss and consequently carry the authority appropriately.

Day in the Life 

  • Oversee total construction and design effort (if applicable) to ensure projects are in accordance with design, National Electric Code, budget, and schedule.
  • Familiarity with working with applicable AHJ representative, coordinating the city permit process (acquisition and sign-off), and ability to ensure that all projects meet the most current applicable compliancy for that specific project. 
  • Function as a liaison to coordinate communication between both internal and external members on the project including, but not limited to: General Contractors, Subcontractors, Superintendents, General Foremen and union officials.
  • Authorize and/or approve all project staff transactions including choice of superintendent, general foremen, foremen, staff volume and wages.
  • Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions.
  • Participate in estimating projects and writing bid proposals.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, payment approvals, sending invoices, and change order requests.
  • Assists in the implementation/interpretation of safety programs and ensures that all OSHA requirements are met.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, with specific emphasis on NFPA, NEC & Building Codes. ​ 
  • Ensure that all company client and project policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to and interpret the policies.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all official project documentation and logs.
  • Provide direction to planning, scheduling and engineering functions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of labor agreements and standards specific to projects.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or IBEW Apprentice Training Certificate or equivalent in job experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of project management work experience in construction (electrical distribution/substation, renewable energy, or related disciplines) required.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with construction methods and materials, costing, power, lighting, systems design, and general industry safety and OSHA standards, procedures, and regulations. Skills to read, interpret and understand financial documents, electrical bids, contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Trained and proficient in project management tools and techniques, negotiating, budgeting, estimating, costing, contracting, scheduling, pricing, and common code requirements. Strong business analysis and mathematical skills. 
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code/IBC and NFPA-72.
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail and ensure maximum quality of work throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Experience with Accubid a plus.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu a plus. 

Travel

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
