They play a crucial role in the supply chain by providing access to a wide range of lighting solutions, offering product expertise, and often assisting with logistics and technical support. Lighting distributors can serve commercial, industrial, and residential markets, ensuring customers get the right products for their needs.

What are some common challenges lighting distributors face when managing client projects?

Lighting Distributors often encounter challenges such as coordinating delivery schedules with tight project timelines, ensuring compatibility of lighting products with clients' technical requirements, and managing inventory to prevent delays. Effective communication with manufacturers, contractors, and end-users is crucial to address specification changes or supply chain issues. Staying up-to-date with the latest lighting technologies and regulations also helps distributors provide valuable guidance to clients and maintain a competitive edge.

Job description

Overview:

Six Flags Great America is seeking a qualified Electrician to repair, maintain, install, and inspect electrical systems across the park — including amusement rides, attractions, and support facilities. Our electricians maintain park power distribution (switchgear, transformers, disconnects, and panelboards) and work with all voltage systems up to and including three-phase 480V, service ride power-transfer and DC drive systems, perform ride and field-device inspections, and carry out new installations and upgrades in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Repair, install, and troubleshoot electrical wiring systems, controls, lighting fixtures, and ride equipment.

• Work with all voltage systems up to and including three-phase 480V.

• Maintain and inspect park power distribution equipment — disconnects, transformers, switchgear, panelboards, and distribution cabinets — up to 480V.

• Perform ride inspections, checking field devices — proximity switches, photo eyes, limit switches, cables, and similar — to verify all connections are secure and components are undamaged.

• Inspect, maintain, and service AC and DC motors driven by contactors or drives, including DC motor and tach-generator brush replacement and commutator inspection and stoning.

• Service ride power-transfer systems — slip rings, conductor (bus) rails, collector shoes, and brushes — including brush replacement, ring and rail dressing, and carbon management (some systems at 480V).

• Inspect, test, and adjust electromechanical motor and safety brakes — brake-coil continuity, air-gap adjustment, and pad wear to specification.

• Inspect and verify ride restraint-circuit components, such as lap-bar and harness-release solenoids.

• Maintain facility electrical systems and perform new installations and upgrades.

• Maintain facility, ride, and queue lighting, including emergency/egress lighting and exit signs.

• Perform preventative maintenance on all electrical apparatus.

• Install or modify electrical systems and components.

• Update drawings and schematic diagrams, and assist in selecting electrical components and materials.

• Assist with park operations responsibilities as needed.
